Worship at St Peter’s is enhanced by a traditional robed four-part choir. The choir, under its director Pam Asbury, sings a wide repertoire including music from the Tudor period to the present day.

The main choir practice is on Friday nights; the younger members from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, the adults joining them from 7pm onwards.

Music at St Peters

The March music list is available as a PDF file.

The choir sings at the 9.30am service each week, except for a break in the summer. These services include hymns and songs from Common Praise and elsewhere, settings of parts of the Common Worship liturgy, and an anthem during communion.

There are two 6.30pm evening services each month. One is a service of Choral Evensong according to the Book of Common Prayer. This is a fully choral service with one or more anthems, a composed setting of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, and a composed setting of the responses.

The choir also sings at special weekday services such as Maundy Thursday, and by request at weddings and funerals.
